Eco cleaning - simple recipes for home cleaning products | Zero Waste

Eco cleaning products are safe for children and for us, they don’t pollute the environment and those made at home are much cheaper than shop chemistry. In this post, I will share with you a few recipes for basic cleaning products such as: furniture, glass or bathroom spray.

Essential oils for cleaning

Which essential oils to choose:

Lavender oil
Lemon oil (poisonous for cats)
Orange oil
Grapefruit oil
Rosemary oil
Peppermint oil
Eucalyptus oil
Clove oil
Tea tree oil (poisonous for cats)

These oils have antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

Of course, you can combine oils to get an interesting smell.
The combination of lavender with lemon and rosemary gives a fresh, herbal scent.
A clove with orange has a beautiful spicy scent.
Orange and lemon combined with grapefruit have a fresh, citrus scent perfect for summer.
Mint oil with eucalyptus smells like sweet mints.
And eucalyptus oil with lemon will bring a breath of freshness to your home.

Although these products are ecological, we should save our hands and clean in gloves. Ingredients such as citric acid or borax aren’t as harmful as chlorine or chemistry contained in some cleaning products, but can irritate the skin.

For storing these spray cleanrs, I recommend using Ikea sprinklers (they are very cheap and durable), and if you avoid plastic, you can use glass bottles with a narrow neck and try to match them to the sprinklers on the means that you used.
I used atomizers after the spray from Frosh and matched them to the apple vinegar bottles.

Xoxo,
Dorota
