How to Dry Rose Petals at Home

How to Dry Rose Petals at Home

Dried rose petals have many uses.
They are a great addition to bath balls, soaps or candles.
You can make a distillate from them, which is a good base for Facebook toners and many cosmetics.
When you add rose petals to the bath, it will alleviate the inflammation of the skin and make it more elastic.

If you have roses in the garden or live close to them, you can pick them up and dry them
In this post I will show you step by step how to collect rose petals and how to remove them.

I'm collecting rose petals on a sunny evening. I choose flowers that are slightly open and put them in a wicker basket or cotton bag.

WARNING! Don’t collect the flakes into a plastic bag (they will not have the air supply) and don’t dry the rose petals from the florist (they are often sprayed with chemistry).

Drying rose petals - method I

It's the easiest way and my favorite.
You will need a cotton bag to make it.

Step I
Add the rose petals to the cotton bag to fill it in 1/3.
Step II
Hang the bag in the shade, in a dry place.
Step III
Wait 2-3 weeks patiently and sometimes we shake the bag.
Step IV
After this time, rose petals should be dried and not lose color.

After a week, turn the petals to the other side.

Drying rose petals - method III

In this way you can dry rose petals and whole flowers.
Thanks to this method, the petals don’t shrink and remain flat.
You will need cardboard and semolina for its performance.

It is important not to dry rose petals in a damp place and don't put them on top of each other. They shouldn't be dried in the sun because they can fade.

I store the dried rose petals in a jar, but you can also keep them in a cotton sack.

Do you like cosmetics with rose petals?

Xoxo,
Dorota
